Enterprise Update

21.07.2011

Students of the Sutton Academy have had the opportunity to turn themselves into the next Richard Branson or Alan Sugar this Year through the Enterprise projects, clubs and competitions that have been going on this Year.

The core purpose of the Enterprise activities is to build upon skills and
characteristics such as determination, creativity, problem solving, risk
taking, teamwork and passion.

The Key Stage 3 Enterprise Club has had a successful year, this club
work in conjunction with The St Helens Chamber and have ran successful projects this year including a morning refreshment stall and film nights.

The Key Stage 4 Enterprise Club have also been busy, organising and running a stationery shop within the school and working closely with
Miss Bancroft to design the Academy’s first Yearbook for Year 11
Leavers.

The Key Stage 5 Enterprise project was based around a Valentines Trade Fair where the students showcased some of the talents of the students of the Academy selling jewellery, cakes and keyrings all
made within the Academy. They even put on a romantic film night!

The students of the Academy have also taken part in Global Enterprise Week taking part in various activities and challenges including a keen focus on women in enterprise which was ran by Miss Topping. More recently some students took part in My Money Week where they learned about the basics of financial planning for their future.

Look out for a continuation of these projects next year and our new projects of designing our own mugs and t-shirts! - Mr Dwyer
