Farewell to Year 11 Students

12.07.2011

On Monday 27th June, Year 11 students were invited to return to the academy for their final 'Leavers Assembly'.

There was lots of tears and laughter as students were awarded certificates for their efforts and achievements over the last 5 years. There was also an opportunity for a bit of a giggle when some rather bizarre awards were given for funny stories which staff and students shared with plenty of laughter.

The Y11 drama group had recorded a video and this was shown to great applause and laughter. It really was a 'dramatic masterpiece' which culminated in a live 'zombie dance' - a thoroughly entertaining shock, I mean show.  The much awaited 'staff video' was shown which gave the kids a chance to see what the staff really get up to!  And of course, the opportunity for the teachers to share in a bit of fun after a very hard year. A massive thank you to the IT and Drama departments for all their hard work in trying to realise the manic ideas of Mrs K!

If there was a dry eye in the room, that soon all changed as the students were shown a montage of all their embarrassing photographs and tearjerking messages from their tutors.

Congratulations were in order for Liam Forrest who won the IPAD 2 for attending extra lessons and filling in Clever Saver Cards. Well done to all that took part and I hope it impacts on your exam results in August.
It was a wonderful way to end the year and I wish Year 11 all the love and luck they deserve. enjoy your mugs!

Be happy and keep smiling - Mrs K
