Fund Raising with World Challenge Group

06.11.2010

On Saturday 6 November the World Challenge Expedition Group were in Blacks, Liverpool holding a raffle to raise funds for their trip to Ghana.

Sam and Jordan turned up at the early hour of 9am just as the shop opened to set up the brilliant stand they had been working on. Hannah came later and managed to ask just about every person in Liverpool if they would like to buy a raffle ticket! A very generous gentleman who worked for the YMCA bought £10 of tickets. Ben, who did the longest shift in the store managed to sell lots of tickets and by the time he had swapped over he had managed to drum up some real interest. Phil, Adassa and Ryan, along with their new boss Jess managed to get lots of support from all the afternoons customers with the help of a huge bucket of lollypops!

First prize was won by our own Miss Fishwick who won £50 pounds of TOG24 vouchers. Although the real winner of the day was Mrs Ashton who won a torch in the shape of a bat! Karen, the manager of Blacks Liverpool commented that the pupils were all fantastic throughout the day and it was a pleasure to have them in store. The sum of £200 was raised through the raffle which will be a massive help to all the pupils involved. In conjunction with TOG24 and Blacks we hope to have another event in store just before Christmas so keep an eye out for a date coming up!

The whole of the World Challenge Expedition Group would like to thank Karen and all staff at Blacks Liverpool, Martin and staff at TOG24, all customers of the store and also staff and pupils that contributed to the event. - Mr Johnson
