Holocaust Memorial
04.02.2011On Thursday 27 January, students went to the Town Hall to attend a Holocaust Memorial ceremony.
The ceremony was inspirational as we heard a first hand experience from a survivor, Anita Carter. We heard how her family coped through the holocaust and also how Sweden and Denmark helped them and how this made a difference to the Jewish people in Denmark.
It was very interesting as we also heard about a students experience when they visited Auschwitz. This was emotional as they talked about their feelings when they visited the different exhibitions in Auschwitz.
It was also emotional when students from Mill Green School and College got up to read a poem called Inclusion. It made us all appreciate that we are all different and that we should have respect for everyone. We also took part in a minutes silence and then we were invited for some refreshments. - Samantha Johnson & Rachel Turner (Year 11).
