Year 7 - Rugby Win!
11.02.2011The Year 7 rugby team, led by Captain Joe Eccleston, stormed through to the St Helens School’s cup final after a superb 48-0 victory at St Aelred’s.
The lads defended superbly in the first half, some last ditch tackles keeping St Aelred’s from crossing the line. The organisation from halfbacks Ben Heyes and Jake Dawson and hard yards from Kane Mahon and Danny Edwards allowed Sutton to open up a 20-0 half time lead with the pick of the tries coming from Callum Hazard in the corner.
The second half was a one sided affair, some excellent attacking rugby led to hat tricks for both Jack Stevens and Lee Hagan, whose length of the field try was a highlight! Further tries from James Hirst, Ben Heyes and Callum Hazard stretched our lead. The lads kept their defence tight until the last minute and stopped St Aelred’s putting any points on the board.
