45 Year 7,8 and 10 students were involved in a Mask Performance workshop. All students used industry standard masks and created characters and stories around them. They performed the stories using masks to students and staff. A massive thanks to everyone who helped make this a valuable experience for all.

A group of students from the Dream Community had the opportunity to go to the Glaciere Diving School in Liverpool. Along with Mr Hogarth, who is an experienced scuba diver, students were taught the basics of diving in the swimming pool under the guidance of an experienced instructor. During their visit they learnt about the physics involved in Scuba diving. A great time was had by everybody!!

In the Languages department we learnt about the magnificent and colourful carnivals that take place each year across the world such as Mardi Gras and Carnaval and those in Rio de Janeiro and Notting Hill. We watched videos of the amazing costumes and masks that people create - often over a period many months.
Then the students were asked to make their own special carnival masks. We had a huge choice of wonderful materials to choose from such as feathers, stickers, ribbons, pipe-cleaners, pom-poms, glitter paper and scraps of material. There were some fabulous masks produced which would look good in any carnival. Well done to the students - hope you enjoyed it! The academy choir made great use of our new recording studio on Super Learning Day. They were recorded singing With Or Without You, by U2 and were accompanied on piano. Their beautiful rendition, complete with harmony and superb attention to dynamics, can now be seen below.
Many thanks to all of the choir members for being so professional during recording. Well done!

As part of our Super Learning Day experience a group of Year 9 students currently studying GCSE Religious Education visited the 'Great Space' that is the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. On arrival we were met by tour guides who had a wealth of knowledge to share with us. On our tour we found the Cathedral mouse, we whispered in the whispering arch and we witnessed the smallest design of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (the telephone box!) inside his largest design (the Cathedral itself!).
The most enjoyable part of the trip was undoubtedly the trip up the tower. Two lift rides and just too many stairs later most students and staff enjoyed fantastic views across Liverpool, a few who did not fancy such dizzying heights sipped hot chocolate in the café whilst continuing to enjoy views of the Cathedral's interior! Our trip was so enjoyable and informative thanks to the professional, courteous and informative Cathedral staff.
